character
NAME: Doctor Daniel Jackson
FANDOM: Stargate: SG-1
AGE: 30
GENDER: Male
OCCUPATION: Professor of Archaeology and Linguistics at the University of Chicago
HISTORY: Daniel was born to Melbourne and Claire Jackson, both archaeologists, and was raised in Egypt, where they were conducting a dig. They moved a lot in the first five years, and ended up in New York, when a tradgedy occured.
When he was five, Daniel's parents were killed by a a falling peice of architecture while setting up an exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum. After that, he was supposed to go to live with his grandfather.
However, his grandfather was too engrossed in his own studies, and left Daniel to go through foster families. From then on until his eighteenth birthday, Daniel was in and out of Foster homes across the states. Some of them were prefectly fine families, still more of them were only in it for the money from the government, and Daniel grew up, a genius, alone, with no friends, displaced from year to year.
As soon as he was able, Daniel applied - and was accepted to - the University of Chicago, where he earned two degrees; the first in Archaeology, the second in Linguistics. At present count he speaks more than twenty-three, including his native English, Ancient Egyptian, Spanish, Russian, Mandarin Chinese and German.
Since graduating, at a surprisingly young age, he did what most students do - travel the world, though he was certainly better prepared than most to do so. After a few years of that, most of which were spent avoiding Egypt.
Finally, he decided it was time to stop running from his past, and from that point until he turned twenty five he lived in Egypt, helping on digs and generally having fun.
During his stay, he fell in love with a woman named Sha're, who, a year later, died. Deeply wounded by this, Daniel again left Egypt, though Sha're's family welcomed him to their home, and moved back to Chicago, where he now teaches at the University he studied at.
Five years later, he's built up a very good reputation, and people the world over consult with him. He's called in to do translations for government groups, and the UN uses him at all their major summits.
He was keeping in contact with Sha're's family in Egypt until the plague hit, and he was cut off from the rest of the world.
PERSONALITY: Daniel's largely nice and polite. The only time he seems to get angry, or passionate, or much of anything, is when it comes to Languages or Archaeology. He has a thing against anyone who mistranslates Ancient Egyptian.
When someone misjudges his abilites, Daniel doesn't shove it in their face - no, he simply goes about and subtly proves them wrong.
